About the studio

Canny Kay Studios designs, installs and supports the technology behind churches, small businesses and startups in Ghana and the United States.

A small studio that finishes what it installs

Samuel Kenyatta DadzieFounder. Leads every project from the first conversation to handover.

We work with churches, small businesses and startups that need their audio visual systems, websites, apps and cloud services to be dependable rather than impressive.

Most organisations our size are stuck between two bad options: consumer equipment and do it yourself websites that fall apart under real use, or large vendors who quote for a scale you will never reach and lose interest once the invoice clears. We work in the gap between those two.

We also cover areas that usually arrive as separate suppliers: the room, the website, the app and the accounts behind them. When the same people handle all of it, the microphone that feeds the live stream, the site the stream appears on, and the account that pays for the storage stop being somebody else's problem.

A lot of what we get called in to fix was not badly built. It was built for a situation that has since changed, by somebody who has moved on, with no notes left behind. That is the part we take seriously.

How we think about the work

Four rules that shape every job, large or small.

Build for the person who has to use it

The volunteer who arrives twenty minutes before a service, or the office manager updating a page between phone calls. If they cannot work it, the specification does not matter.

No lock in

Domains, hosting, licences and cloud accounts are registered in your name and you hold the logins. If you want to work with somebody else next year, nothing has to be untangled.

Say when something is not needed

Plenty of problems are solved by moving a speaker, changing a setting or removing a plugin. We would rather tell you that than sell you a bigger system.

Leave documentation behind

Labelled cables, a written record of what was installed and why, and account details somewhere your organisation controls.

Who we work with

Three kinds of clients, one way of working.

Churches and ministries

Sundays that run smoothly

Sanctuary sound, screens and streaming a rotating volunteer team can run each week, plus hymn, giving and event tools for the congregation.

Small business and non profits

Systems that do not depend on one person

Meeting rooms that work first time, a website that brings in enquiries, and email, files and backups that do not live on a personal account.

Startups and founders

From idea to first version

Scoping, product design, apps, payments and cloud infrastructure that can grow with you.

How a project runs

Every job follows the same four steps, whether it is one microphone or a whole platform.

  1. Step 1ConversationYou tell us the problem and the budget. We look at the room or the system and ask questions.
  2. Step 2Written proposalScope, equipment and price in writing before anything is ordered or built.
  3. Step 3Build and installScheduled around your services and opening hours, and tested before handover.
  4. Step 4HandoverTraining for the people who use it, written notes, and support agreed in advance.

Worth knowing before you call

  • We are a small studio, so we take on a limited number of projects at a time and will say so if we cannot fit yours in when you need it.
  • We are happy to work alongside whoever already looks after your systems rather than replacing them.
  • Small jobs are welcome. A single microphone problem or one broken page is a good reason to get in touch.
  • If the honest answer is that you do not need us yet, that is what you will hear.
